Welcome back!
This weeks POTW Comes from…drum roll please…Alan at 9to5alternative.
“This sunset photo is from Istanbul, Turkey, and I took this last summer. LOVE that city. You should definitely visit. Alan.”
We have in fact already been to Turkey, not to Istanbul though. I would go back again as it was a really interesting country, but I don’t think we’ll tag it on to the RTW trip. Europe is quite accessible and cheap from where we live so it’s probably a place we would cram in to a few weeks after the RTW trip (if we come back hehe).

A beautiful photo, I especially love the composition with the bird about to fly accross the sun!
Entries are already lining up for next week so if you’d like to join in just email me a picture. Go on…you know you want to!
I would just like to apologise for my slack posting / commenting this week! I’ve been extremely busy!! (Note to self - must try harder this week!).
Is 26 classed as “late 20s”?
People at work keep teasing me saying that, as of today, I’m now officially considered as being in my “late 20s”, personally I don’t think this is the case and they are simply all jealous that I’m the youngest person working there (by about 12 years - I think the next youngest is 38 and the majority are in their 50s with one at 65!!). Jealousy and resentment is what I think it is - or maybe I’m just moody because I feel old!
Anyway, I think 26 must actually be in the mid 20s range, as why would there be a “mid 20s” range otherwise?? I think as of this year my birthday’s of the future will be backwards i.e. I shall be 25 again next year, then 24 and so on.
The Birthday
I’ve found as I’ve got to this ripe ol’ age that birthdays get a little uneventful and predictable. I remember my 16th birthday…drunk, clearly underage (I started a while before my 16th) in a nightclub surrounded by all of my friends. After mixing drinks all night I was given 2 double whiskys with coke - I downed the pair and was unfortunately sick (it was sort of ok as it was pure alcohol - no food) on my friend, Kim’s, leg (to this day Kim has not forgotten and it does get bought up regularly)! Wow, 10 years ago - haven’t I come a long way haha!
I am a huge lover of birthdays (mine and everyone elses!!) and Christmas. This year was, pretty much as usual, filled with gifts, cards, balloons (thanks Jules!), flowers, cheques and IOUs - which shall be cashed in!! The only downside - Jamie and I went for a wander on the Moors and I have the massivest blister the world has ever known on my heel! Yes, it’s my own fault (Jamie claims to have been able to predict this!) because I decided to wear my CAT boots with no socks….but did I deserve that on my birthday?? No I tell you!!
Where will I be on my 27th birthday?
Ok, so my 26th (eugh) has been a rather quiet affair as Jamie isn’t working at the moment (due to a down-turn in the building trade)…BUT did you know that for my 27th I have no idea where I will be?? Haha, looking on the bright sideof everything I will hopefully be part way through the RTW trip by my next birthday. Ideally I would love to be in Sydney spending my birthday with my best friend, Jess, who moved to Sydney approx 2 years ago. But to be honest, anywhere will do as long as it’s in the itinerary!
Remember…
…Age really is just a number and you are only as old as you act and feel!!
Tomorrow is my birthday! Last night I spent hours making cupcakes, muffins and rocky road bites for work (along with a few for home obviously). I planned to take a photo when I got to work to prove to the world that I can actually cook…but…unfortunately they’ve all gone already! There were 30-40 cakes and they are all gone! I must be a good cook!
The Search is On…
For the past few days I have been searching high and low for a really nice links page plugin. I’ve probably tried about 10-12 of the ones available on the easy upload bit on my Wordpress dashboard but I just cannot seem to find one I like. they’re either too plain and simple and you can’t adjust fonts or anything to make it individual or they just don’t seem to sit right with my blog…or maybe it’s just me.
Can Anyone Help Me?
This may be a little cheeky but I am relying on your good natures, kindness, anything really for a little helping hand (this is normally where I’d pull out my “because-I’m-a-girl” card hehe). I know absolutely nothing about codes or HTML or any other 4-letter web-related abbreviation you might like to throw my way and so it’s not looking too likely that I’ll be able to solve the issue by myself. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a nice plugin to add a links page, or some HTML or something (whatever that means).
“What’s In It For Me” I Hear You Yell
Well, not only will I be your best friend for life (well, we could work on that) but I would give you a free of charge (as in I wouldn’t expect a link in exchange unless you thought enough of me to do so) link on my new founded, fresh and funky links page (that you will help me to get obviously). Also, you can live a happy and fulfilled life with the knowledge that you, yes you, have helped me - a mere baby to the blogging world - achieve my dream of a fantastic links page (again, all credit to you!). Now, how does that sound? Pretty great deal huh??
Well, even if it doesn’t sound like the best deal since 2 4 1 on Domino’s, I would be extremely extremely exuberantly incredibly unbelievably grateful to you (and if it’s possible I will add a little thank you message to you on the links page - and I might even reveiw your blog, although I don’t know if I’d be any good at that last bit though).
Thanks in advance - If you are my knight in shining armour (apart from Jamie and my dad of course - neither of whom would be capable of help - sorry if you’re reading this!) please leave me a comment or send me msg / email!
